I have been using Kexi for many years. Recently I upgraded to the latest
Ubuntu, 14.04. The version of Kexi available in the 14.04 Ubuntu Software
Center has a serious problem. Any time the cursor crosses the border between
the Project Navigator and the Table Data, the table abruptly jumps to the
beginning. This is extremely disruptive to doing any work in the table.
Please kindly let me know how this matter can be resolved.
Hi, thanks for the contact.
Kexi 2.8 (the newer, the better, currently released is 2.8.5,
available inhttp://www.ubuntuupdates.org/ppa/kubuntu_updates?dist=trusty
and it's mentioned at
https://userbase.kde.org/Calligra/Download#Kubuntu too) has fixed a
series of similar bugs:
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=329892#c1
I hope this is the one you're reporting.

I mentioned Kubuntu but you're not forced to change desktop to Plasma
by KDE. You'd be just able to update Kexi as well.

So to upgrade to Kexi 2.8.5, would I run the following:

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:kubuntu-ppa/ppa
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install <package name>

If the above are the steps I need, then what should be put in for <package name> ? Would it be "kexi", or something else?

I do want to ensure these steps are only going to update Kexi, and won't change anything else. I am quite happy with everything else in the computer now and don't want to change anything.

I do not know what version of Kexi it is, as I could not find an "about"
option or a "help" option that would enlist it for me.
Look at the drop-down Help menu "?" button near the top-right Search field:
https://www.calligra.org/wp-content/uploads/2011/09/kexi-2.4-startup-new-project.png

Also, typing 'kexi --version' in console can disclose the info.

Here is the version I am currently running:

Qt: 4.8.6
KDE Development Platform: 4.13.2
Kexi: 2.8.1
