Hi Caz,
Let me explain clearly.
I turn on KGDB setting on config file to build kernel 2.6.27.10. on target
machine, originally it was with CentOS5.2, as my menu.lst shown below,
default=0
timeout=5
splashimage=(hd0,0)/grub/splash.xpm.gz
hiddenmenu

title CentOS (2.6.27.10)
        root (hd0,0)
        kernel /vmlinuz-2.6.27.10 ro root=/dev/VolGroup00/LogVol00 rhgb
        console=ttyS0,115200n8 kgdboc=ttyS0,115200
        initrd /initrd-2.6.27.10.img
title CentOS (2.6.18-92.el5)
        root (hd0,0)
        kernel /vmlinuz-2.6.18-92.el5 ro root=/dev/VolGroup00/LogVol00 rhgb
quiet
        initrd /initrd-2.6.18-92.el5.img
During my test, I use kernel 2.6.27.10 on target machine.

I ever tried to build the gdb-6.8 and gdb-6.8--Kgdblight from svn repository
on kernel 2.6.27.10 and CentOS5.2, kernel 2.6.18-92.el5, and fail by
"Nothing to be done for 'install-target'" and "Nothing to be done for
'install'".
That is why I decide to fellow the instructions on your website.
Any comments are all welcome.
Thanks,

Hello Nick,
Are you using gdb from rpm or from svn repository? Also are you using
2.6.18-92.el5 kernel or svn repository? I don't remember I still support
2.6.18-92.el5. I suggest trying gdb from svn repository and 2.6.27.10
kernel.

Have you seen boot message when you run minicom for your target?

set prompt (kgdb)

set solib-search-path /root/arcsas

set debugkernel 1

#set debug remote 1

set remotebaud 115200

target remote /dev/ttyS0

Target machine: CentOS5.2, x86_64, menu.lst as below,

timeout=5

splashimage=(hd0,0)/grub/splash.xpm.gz

Could you identify where the problem is?

Please throw me some light.
