It is not particularly difficult to support one imperial unit and one metric unit type in the files.
Don't assume it is difficult. Ask for what you want. You don't walk into the car dealer and say, tell GM to make me a car with only one electric window, because I suspect having 4 electric windows is difficult. Difficulty is isolated in a few locations within the code, everything internal is nanometers. If the UI has to support imperial, then I think the files should too. I would be willing to yield on this, but not because it is presumed to be difficult to code and make work, only if it is truly not needed.
