Maybe it will work now. If you can try it for MAC now, that would be
appreciated.
if( doOwn && ftell( aFile ) == 0L )
{
setvbuf( fp, NULL, _IOFBF, BUFSIZ * 8 );
}
ftell() might tell us when it's OK to toss the original buffer.
