After a few months of no success, I just got Kicad to compile successfully with Kicad-winbuilder version 3.3.
It looks great. Whatever changes have been made recently are working well with the kicad-winbuilder script. I had to go in and delete some folders that BZR didn't download properly (to cause them to be re-downloaded) and re-run, and install Doxygen, but all's well! Hooray! Now for more testing.
