Clarification: a function and not computed on the spot because it's used both in drawing and in plotting. So if the idea is to keep it modifiable, some common way of obtaining the value is needed to keep the result the same. It's difficult to adjust to the degree of functional subdivision wanted/required by a project... sometime people prefers less functions for trivial things confined to a single file like these and sometimes aggressive decomposition is preferred.
