I have run across this a couple of times and finally figured a way to intentionally duplicate. It only happens when using OpenGL and making changes while 3d view is open. Only see issue with OpenGL canvas.
1. Open kicad and start pcbnew. 2. Move 3d window and pcbnew windows out of each other's' way. 3. Press ALT-3 to view 3d model. 4. Left-click pcbnew window and press F11 to switch canvas. 5. Route a trace. 6. Press escape a few times when done. 7. Move mouse to 3d model window and left-click to refresh. 8. Wait a few seconds and then move mouse back to pcbnew main window. Sometimes there are some changes to the 3d model coloring when left-clicking in the 3d view. The pcbnew canvas always turns white. F9 or F11 usually fixes it.
