@Wayne, what do you mean by forging GNUInstallDirs? We already sue GNUInstallDirs for some parts of our cmakelists, sepcifically for the libdir thing. I am not sure if we do in other locations.
Using GNUInstallDir variables let the user / packager be able to override some install paths instead of using the hardcoded values. @Simon, does MAKE_INSTALL_DATADIR work for gnu stow?
