I am using here solder S-Sn60Pb40 1mm and 0,5mm from "Felder". Also the
desoldering wire "Entlötlitze 2mm No. 27162000" from "Felder. I also used wick
and swissstone. All the same, if it is not too old. And, and of course, i use a
pump, if the situation is not too cramped. As fluxing agent homemade from
colophony/isopropanol or pure stearine, as mentioned before.
You can also made very good desoldering wire from colophony/isopropanol mixture
soakening the shilding mesh of RG58 or RG213 or similar coaxial wiring.
I also often soake the desoldering wire with this colophony/isopropanol
mixture, to get better results.

Another issue about lead free solder and the gap between component lead and
hole: The capillary attraction for lead free solder ist much less than for
leaded solder. So the gap also has to be smaller.....annother reason to make
narrow holes at production. But bad for rework.
