Good day, I am Jngoi and a newbie at linux, I've tried the Xandrox default
in my eee pc prior to switching to xp and installed Damn Small Linux on both
my Flashdisk and my external hdd. My present project is the installation of
Ubuntu 8.04 via a wubi install and have discovered issues with this process,
generally as I have discovered in the various forums lurked, when it is
installed in the eee pc however a successfull installation had been attained
via number of tweak in teh software. I am currently re-installing for the
3rd time because previous attempts were unsuccessful at getting my wi-fi,
cam, sound control, Compiz to work to at least an acceptable level. I do not
think I can run Compiz fusion smoothly as I lack a video card with adequate
memory however I have had great success running Shockwave3D, WinFlip,
Madotate and Yod'm3D at the same tim in XP which to my mind is more memory
draining as puro sila 3rd party apps., basin makaya ang Compiz fusion sa eee
pc (2Gb ako RAM) thru tweaking.Last time I downloaded a file for the 701
interface for eeebuntu and installed it using the package manager and it had
caused issues with the desktop, leaving it blank most of the time while
using Compiz and even when Compiz was disabled. I had to resort to
uninstalling and now presently waiting to re-install Ubuntu again for the
3rd time. Can I ask for help in pointing me to where I can download scripts
or packages that can make wubi installed Ubuntu run on the eee pc within a
reasonable amount of stability and with wi-fi and cam functioning. I am
really thinking about installing Ubuntu into a project desktop for December
and was hoping I could get comfortable with it by then. Also, before I
forget what are the best specs for running Ubuntu 8.04 on a desktop, not a
gamer just surfing around but I do a little video editing, picture work.
thanks.
