I'm not sure I draw the same conclusion as you. The problem started for you when you updated your distro. If kubuntu 10.10 had Kmymoney 4.5.3 and you are still using 4.5.3, then, to me, that sounds like Kubuntu/Ubuntu (or its libraries) is causing the problem. Have you queried their forums? I've seen that people are successfully running on 11.10 a KMM 4.6.1 that they have built.
