Our client is looking for an experienced Application Architect to work on 
building a new Reservation system for managing bookings for Discovery Cove, 
Summer Camps, Dining, and other in-park events. This position is intended to be 
a lead technical position, with responsibilities for application design and 
programming for the assigned functional area. Work may also include 
oversight/review of code written by other developers in this functional area. 
Please note this is not an `ivory tower` architecture position - the vast 
majority of time will be hands-on implementation. This system will be 
implemented using C# (VS 2008) with a WinForms user interface and web services. 
Environments will use multiple load-balanced server farms and clustered 
database servers (SQL 2005). This IT group develops, integrates, and maintains 
the information systems used to operate the Worlds of Discovery. Primary 
Responsibilities 1) Application architecture, design, and programming using C# 
(VS 2008) and SQL Server 2) Technical review of work completed by other team 
members 3) Ensure new systems are compliant with policies/standards, meet 
scalability needs (web sites with gt; 1,000,000 page views per day), avoid 
unnecessary complexity 4) Assisting with documenting requirements (or other 
project documentation) as needed; includes collaborative meetings with 
customers 5) Assist in preparing estimates for implementing new system 
enhancements Required General Skills 1) Excellent verbal and written 
communication skills; ability to communicate at multiple levels, including: 
programmers, non-technical project managers, business analysts, and customers 
2) Strong problem solving and analytical skills 3) Effective organizational 
skills, demonstrated by ability to set priorities, coordinate multiple tasks 
simultaneously, and be attentive to details 4) Must work well in a team 
environment 5) Minimum 6 years software development experience, with majority

Skills 1) Architect-Application - Intermediate Proficient in documenting an

tiering, error handling, caching, etc. 2) Developer-.NET C# - Expert with 4 
year(s) experience. Must have significant, recent experience with C# and 
ASP.NET (C# is required); the ideal candidate will have experience with web and 
smart-client apps 3) Understands factors that influence application performance 
and scalability - Intermediate with 4 year(s) experience. Experience with 
enterprise and/or high-volume systems 4) SQL Server database design and stored 
procedure development - Intermediate with 3 year(s) experience. Must understand 
how to implement optimal database calls and assess query performance 5) 
Object-oriented analysis, design, and development - Intermediate with 5 year(s) 
experience. Classroom OO knowledge is not sufficient - expected to understand 
concepts and have experience applying on multiple projects; knowledge of design 
patters would be a plus Preferred Technical Skills 1) Experience with a formal 
methodology. Experience with an iterative, agile process would be a plus 2) 
Experience with automated unit testing and automated software build processes. 
Experience with Team Foundation Server (TFS) would be a plus 3) Experience 
planning and managing projects. This position will not be working as the 
project manager, but will be expected to collaborate with the PM and BA on the 
project plan. 4) Experience with WCF. We are planning to use the Windows 
Communication Framework on this project5) Experience with WPF. We will be 
evaluating the potential use of WPF on this project

Resume must clearly articulate the size of the environments - both # of 
databases supported as well as size, SQL Servers instances and how many Oracle 
instances for the past 2 years. They will be solely responsible for 50+ db's in 
this position. Resume must clearly articulate substantial SQL Server work as 
well as Oracle work. Stating SQL Server as a 'skill' is NOT sufficient. Work 
with both SQL Server and Oracle must be current - i.e. within the last 2 years.

Candidates will need to be living in the Chicago area for the duration of the 
project. Local candidates HIGHLY preferred.

It is production support work for existing databases and applications. Need 
someone who has experience doing base support, as opposed to project work. Day 
to day phone calls and email requests, enhancements and table changes, 
production to test refreshes, things that are broken and need to be fixed, 
enhancing existing UNIX monitoring scripts, etc.

Must be a clear communicator - Must be able to juggle multiple priorities and 
clients at once. Must be a self starter who takes initiative. Be able to do 
24x7 support. Must be able to troubleshoot system problems and work quickly to

work within a large and diverse team in many different cities. Must be able to 
communicate effectively with different teams and provide courteous customer 
service. Must be able to achieve results with little supervision. Must be 
willing to persevere until problems are resolved and seek help from team 
members when appropriate - 'can do' attitude. Must comply with company policies 
on change approvals.

Required Skills:
- 3+ years experience as SQL Server and Oracle DBA.
- 2+ years of Microsoft analysis services and Microsoft reporting services.
- 2+ years Oracle DBA, SQL Server DBA, Unix shell scripting (AIX and HP), Intel 
Experience, Oracle Backup and Recovery using RMAN, Oracle Performance and Tuning
