Role: Business System Analyst (ETL, Datawarehouse)
Location: Irvine, CA
Job Length: 6 Months
Job Description
Responsibilities include working with the business to identify opportunities
for improvement in operations and processes, document user requirements and
technical specs, and assist in the design and implementation of Enterprise
Data Warehousing business solutions. The analyst will also develop reports
using Cognos/SSRS and have knowledge of commonly used concepts, procedures,
and best practices within operational and financial reporting. The analyst
is the primary liaison between business groups and EDW to streamline and
improve the informational and analytical needs of the company.
The ideal candidate understands the challenges of technology and is able to
articulate solutions that bridge the gap between business and technology.
The analyst may also perform business analysis that are quantitative,
organizational and/or financial in nature and present concise, value added
conclusions to senior management. Resourcefulness and the ability to work
autonomously and under pressure to meet established deadlines are also
required.
Primary Responsibility:
* Partner with business to gather, refine and document business requirements
* Assist end users to define user interfaces, functional specifications and
business rules
* Prepare mock up visuals as necessary
* Support design, implementation, or modification of business solutions
* Maintain quality control and auditing of EDW to ensure the accuracy and
quality of data
* Resolve data conflicts and inappropriate use of data
* Report authoring
* Data profiling, mining and analysis
Skill set and requirements:
* Must have working experience in eCommerce industry and web analytics
* Understanding of OLAP and Enterprise Data Warehousing methodologies.
* Excellent organizational and documentation ability to create and maintain
detailed documentation for data warehouse and procedures.
* Experience extracting and manipulating data from relational databases with
SQL statements or other query language.
* Experience with business intelligence or reporting tools (preferably SAS,
SSRS, or Cognos BI tools: Power Play, ReportNet, and Metric Studio).
* High proficiency in MS Suite to manipulate data and create analysis and
presentations required.
* Creativity and intellectual curiosity around strategic vision and problem
resolution.
* Strong quantitative proficiency.
DW concepts, SDLC, BRD/TDD, metrics, SAS, SSRS, Cognos
