*Job Description: *
The Client Shared Services Platform (Shutterfly SSP) is a highly
distributed, scalable system built using service oriented architecture. The
system acts as the backbone for all of clients products, providing mission
critical reusable services, frameworks and components, and supporting
infrastructure to enable cohesive and agile software development for the
rest of clients engineering. Client is seeking to add a key contributor to
the Frameworks team who would be instrumental in the design and development
of Shutterfly SSP. The ideal candidate should have a background in software
architecture and technical experience building a SOA system at a large Web
2.0 company. Candidates who have worked for high volume B2C e-Commerce
companies using these technologies are highly preferred.
*Responsibilities:*
- Architect and build the web services framework of Shutterfly SSP
utilizing open source frameworks and specifications such SCA, OSGi, Spring,
etc.
- Play lead technical role in evaluating open source and commercial
frameworks and components to be used to develop fine grain and course grain
services for the platform
- Collaborate with the Infrastructure team to develop core technologies
to be integrated into the services framework
- Ensure the services framework is easily extendable, scalable, high
performance while being well governed
- Deliver well-defined interfaces and other integration capabilities to
the other modules of the platform in a seamless and maintainable manner.
- Participate in architectural design review of core components
throughout the platform and provide guidance for interoperability with the
services layer.
*Key Skills and Experience:*
- Minimum 10 years experience developing commercial applications.
- Hands-on participation in leading design and development of a highly
scalable, secure and performing Web 2.0 SOA application
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience with functional decomposition of
complex applications and systems into reusable distributed services
- Strong understanding and experience with framework components and
technologies used in developing SOA, preferably using Java open source such
as Apache Tuscany, Apache CXF, Spring IoC, Spring Equinox and Spring DM,
Knoplerfish, Jazzmaster etc.
- Extensive knowledge and experience developing RESTful web services
- Strong knowledge and experience with serialization/de-serialization for
RPC and message exchange using binary XML, JSON, Hessian, Thrift, Protocol
Buffers, ASN.1 etc.
- Strong understanding of SOA and integration design patterns
- Familiarity with operation protocols to scale SOA development using
governance tools highly desirable
- Domain experience with B2C E-Commerce development is desirable
- Desire and ability to thrive in a fast-paced, growing, dynamic
environment
- Excellent communication and leadership skills
- BS/MS in Computer Science highly desirable
