The Senior/Lead Database Administrator and System Architect will provide
senior level database administration and database design/architecture and
the ExtraNet, and will:

• Perform senior level database administration for databases, including
source data
• Analyze, design, implement, and maintain ISIS-related databases to support
new and existing WIC application architecture
• Assure the integrity, security, and continued performance of ISIS-related
databases
• Provide database access oversight, and review and authorize production
system queries, views, and stored procedures for efficiency and quality
• Perform periodic maintenance and constant monitoring of all ISIS-related
databases including fine tuning, creating new indices, creating new views,
database reorganization, and optimizing data access paths
• Recommend and implement approved solutions and methodologies to provide
increased system performance of hardware and software environments including
issues of different software versions, development environments, operating
systems, and connectivity to databases
• Serve as the primary liaison with Stake holders on all issues related to
the DB2 environment
• Assure that the online production environment is available for Local
Agency online users for its critical functions of participant certification
and food instrument issuance in accordance with Service Level Agreements
with Participating state agencies (Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 9 p.m.;
Saturday, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.)
• Assure the databases are ready and available for nightly, weekly, monthly,
and off-hours batch processing
• Mentor/train other DBA staff on the administration and maintenance of
databases
• Serve as backup to the Senior AIX Database Administrator in providing
support for the ISIS AIX reporting database

1 Possess IBM Certified Specialist – DB2 User certification. (Pass/Fail) (1
pt)

2. Three years experience as senior database administrator in a centralized
mainframe environment with at least 70% of time each year dedicated to
supporting databases. This experience must include data content analysis,
performance monitoring, online real-time transaction processing, defining
and implementing back up and recovery processes, defining and implementing
database security strategies, administering DB2 for Z/OS, and working within
CICS and TSO. All three years of experience must include support of a
database similar in size to the ISIS production database.

3. Three years experience performing database support with at least 10% of
time each year dedicated to performing functions to maintain and tune DB2
databases using DB2 utilities such as Fast Unload, Thread Sentry, Visual
Explain, and Omegamon.

4. Two years experience performing database support with at least 10% of
time each year using query tools (e.g., SQL, OMF) to ensure data integrity
and data security, and to assess database performance.

5. Two years experience in a database support position analyzing,
developing, and designing database solutions using an established change
management process that included change request analysis, documenting
requirements, developing solutions, testing (unit, system, and integration
testing), and implementation.

6. Two years experience performing in a lead position with at least 5% of
time each year dedicated to mentoring/training staff on database operations
and support.

Desired Qualification

1. One year experience working with or as a part of a project or program
associated with the federal WIC program having gained knowledge specific to
state and federal WIC policies and procedures such as: client categories,
program qualifications, food prescriptions, and vendor authorization.

2. One year experience performing database support with at least 10% of time
dedicated to performing functions to enhance the overall functionality of
DB2 databases using DB2 utilities such as Propagator and DB2 Connect.

3. Possess IBM Certified Solutions Expert DB2 UDB certification.

4. One year experience in a database support position with at least 10% of
time dedicated to supporting DB2 UDB on AIX database. This includes
configuring, troubleshooting, performance monitoring, account
administration, log reviews, and archiving. All experience must include
support of a database similar in size to the ISIS AIX reporting database.
