Duration:  6 months

Rate:  $45/hr c2c

 

We have an immediate need for a SAP BW resource that also has SQL Server
skills. Essentially we’re looking for someone who can spend 20% of their
time supporting our BW 3.5 environment (some minor development) and 80% of
their time developing in SQL Server. I’ve provided some bullet points below
of what is expected on the BW and SQL Server fronts.

 

BW (20% of time)

·         Development: 

·         Extraction of new fields/tables (InfoObjects)

·         For new tables, setting up process chains (PC’s) so that the job
scheduler (Control-M) can execute the process in batch mode. 

·         Support - When Needed:

·         Troubleshooting incorrect data by reviewing source system (ECC
5.0) and verifying accuracy.

·         Cleanup and Maintenance of Environment:

·         Removal of unnecessary objects (InfoCubes, PC’s, ODS tables, etc.)

·         Testing of changes in R/3 that will impact our environment

·         Support - On Going

·         Process failures due to “bad” data (for instance we were recently
passed a material code with a leading space) and ability to delete this data
from staging tables (PSA’s)

 

SQL Server (80% of time)

*       Responsibilities:  

*       Development:

*       Construct, test and implement ETL components in SQL Server 2008

*       Design, Documentation and Standards:

*       Create, maintain and review technical and design documentation for
ETL related processes.
*       Follow DataWarehouse and BI design and development processes, ensure
that standards are adhered to, and the program methodology is adopted and
utilized in both projects and support. 
*       Ensure that system architecture and design meets the determined
business requirements while accounting for system performance and
availability.
*       Ability to participate in and lead design meetings with project team
members that translate business requirements to Datawarehouse solutions. 
*       Ability to perform architectural reviews of ETL processes

*       Analysis:

*       Ability to perform detailed data analysis/profiling and understand
how it translates into the facts and dimensions used in SSAS cubes and SSRS
reports. 
*       Determine the structure, content, and quality of the data through
examination of source systems and data samples.
*       Ability to quickly assimilate business process knowledge and apply
to data analysis, and ETL design tasks. 
*       Ability to understand and translate business rules to process data
from many sources and to build dimension and fact tables. 

*       Operational Support

*       Ability to create ad hoc queries to troubleshoot data issues and
production problems where data integrity is compromised. 

*       Technical Skills:   

*       Business Intelligence experience using a commercial business
intelligence tool
*       Strong analytical and problem solving skills. 
*       Extensive database design experience, such as analyzing various data
types, defining column attributes, enforcing uniqueness with primary key
constraints, building relationships with foreign keys, etc.
*       Extensive ETL knowledge and 2-3 years hands-on experience with ETL
Development tools such as SSIS, Informatica, Oracle Data Integrator, or
Teradata. 
*       Extensive knowledge and experience of database programming functions

*       Transact-SQL
*       Stored Procedures, Triggers, User Defined Functions, Views, etc.
*       Declaring variables/parameters and performing analysis with
aggregate functions
*       Query Optimization and Indexes

*       Data Warehousing / Business Intelligence, System Integration, IT
Architecture, Application Delivery Methodology
*       IT Industry, Emerging Technologies, Information / Data Management,
System Support & Services,
*       Experience with the Microsoft BI Reporting toolsets a plus (MS SSAS,
SSRS)
