Title: Oracle DBA with HP-UX  and Linux

Location: Bloomington, IL

Duration: Long term Contract

Client: Mphasis/State Farm

This person will be responsible for DBA/DBSA tasks on the 5 person Oracle
Team -- the Oracle team supports vendor implementations of Oracle
databases.  Some of the most notable are FileNet, Service Desk, Control M,
BenXL, PrimaVera, LMS Training Server, etc.  This person will need to be
available for off shift work occasionally in a support capacity or to
implement new functionality.  This person should be skilled with Tuning SQL
and have a good understanding of Unix (HP-UX preferred) and Linux.

Most important skills / experience
1.   Extensive knowledge of Oracle and it’s operating environment, including
AIX, HP-UX, and Linux.
2.   Proven problem resolution of Oracle DBMS with emphasis on Tuning
3.   Proven history with tuning Oracle Databases
4.   Experience with Real Application Clusters (RAC) and Automatic Storage
Management (ASM)
5.   Ability to work occasionally outside normal work hours.


Desirable Skills / Experience
1.   Supports, recommends and challenges decisions that have impact on the
Oracle infrastructure.
2.   Maintains a constant awareness of priority issues and how his/her
availability for development, support and problem-solving affects these
issues.
3.   Demonstrated ability to provide feedback to peers and management.
4.   Operates with complete autonomy and influence and desire to be final
level of support at State Farm for assigned database activities.
5.   Extensive knowledge of Oracle and it’s operating environment, including
AIX, HPUX, and Linux.
6.   Experience with Real Application Clusters (RAC) and Automatic Storage
Management (ASM).
7.   Experience with RMAN.
8.   Experience with Oracle Data Guard.
9.   Experience with Oracle Enterprise Management (OEM) Grid
10. Experience with at least one other Database Management System (DBMS),
preferably DB2 or SQL Server.
11. Proven experience working multiple projects with critical deadlines,
often over a 7 x 24 Support Window.
12. Extensive Experience with SQL language.
13. Proven problem resolution of Oracle DBMS.
14. Proven history with tuning Oracle Databases.
15. Experience creating installation scripts and procedures.
16. Working knowledge of Windows and Windows Security.
17. Working knowledge of database replication and heterogeneous data access
concepts.
18. Working knowledge of networks and ability to resolve network
connectivity issues.
19. Understanding of testing theory and ability to make recommendations to
improve testing process.
20. Ability to work occasionally outside normal work hours.
