Title : SQL Server DBA Location: Foster City,CA Duration : 12 Months Major Job Duties and Responsibilities: SQL Server DBA to install/setup/deliver and support Microsoft SQL Server databases and applications as part of Data Center Optimization effort. Provide MS SQL database engineering and administration support during a migration of a large number of existing MS SQL databases between data centers. Participate in technical review discussions, plan for minimal downtime during migration, document detailed migration plans, implement the migration plan, and provide troubleshooting during actual migration efforts. Provide technical expertise and hands-on support in consolidation and migration of databases to new hardware and platforms. Senior DB Engineer/architect who can design, develop, and implement SQL server solutions for complex projects. Provide technical expertise in all aspects of database implementation life cycle from sizing, through capacity planning, design, and implementation. Physical implementation of databases, storage structures, high- availability solutions, replication, and disaster recovery solutions. Provide inputs in defining database standards and best practices for advanced monitoring and troubleshooting, performance tuning and automation Provide guidance and direction to Level-2 Production database operations team. Upgrade SQL2000 servers to SQL2005 and/or SQL2008. Experience Expert in design, analysis, development, implementation and administration of MS SQL server 2000, 2005 and 2008 databases. Expert in implementing high availability and disaster recovery solutions such as Log shipping, data replication. Minimum of 8 years experience working as MS SQL Server DBA supporting mission critical applications. Experience in SQL2008 is a big plus. Experience working on large enterprise infrastructure with over 100+ SQL servers Experience with HP Polyserve and VM virtualization technologies is a big plus.
