The Information Technology Group (ITG) is responsible for:
Managing Macquarie's technology infrastructure
Supporting, maintaining and enhancing existing business systems
Delivering and deploying new systems, technologies and services
The Group provides each major business in Macquarie with a dedicated team
that works closely with that business to understand its particular
technology needs.
The Fixed Income, Currency & Commodities group (FICC) participates in a
broad range of global financial markets trading activities, and develops
specialised and innovative products that create opportunities for selective
international expansion. FICC currently has staff located in Australia, USA,
Hong Kong, Korea, Brazil, South Africa, UK, Japan, and the Middle East. FICC
is underpinned by the ITG Account Team, a co-located division of ITG that
uses the latest software technologies, to translate business strategy into
clear technical and analytical systems solutions.
The ITG FICC Account Team is looking to recruit a Senior Sybase/SQL Server
DBA. The successful candidate will work amongst a team of both Application
and Infrastructure DBAs located in various regions around the world with the
majority of the team located in Sydney. This role has the primary
responsibility of working on the design and implementation of a number of
new systems within FICC and has the following key responsibilities.
Assisting development teams with "best practice" database
design/development
Installation and administration of database servers
Ensuring the availability and performance of all database systems
Ongoing upgrades and maintenance of database software
DR planning and testing
Schema development, Performance and Tuning new application
development
Sybase and Transact SQL Subject Matter Expert
Assist development team with application implementation and
support
Supply database expertise and consultancy services to development
teams
To be successful in this role you will have the following skills and
experience:
Sybase ASE 15.0.x
SQL Server 2005/2008
Sybase MDA tables
Sybase Replication Server
Significant database design and development experience
Significant database performance and tuning experience
Confidence in working in a dynamic environment
Strong interpersonal skills and be able to work well with a time
critical business
Exposure to the following would be desirable:
SQL Server 2005/2008 Analysis and Reporting Services
Sun Solaris
Redhat Linux
Shell/Perl programming
Experience in the banking/finance industry.
