Personally, I haven't done it, because I don't have the customer demand for it.
If I had the demand for it, then I'd build it.

For bug 27113, why not add a system preference "SearchSuggestionURL" and add a
Koha plugin for it? Or just do it wholly in a Koha plugin?

Or add a REST API endpoint /api/v1/search/suggestions and
/api/v1/public/search/suggestions and have it just process an unqualified query
or a single index query. Depends on how you want to implement the autocomplete. 

I really do think that we've been way too locked into the REST dogma and we're
ignoring industry standards and wide-spread practicality.
