An item that is deleted before it was received in the library or was falsely received never actually "existed" as part of the collection. That means that by adding it to the deleteditems table, it will possibly interfere with statistics on weeded items. Maybe they could be a way to mark them as temporary item records that would help us to exclude them from statistics?
