If you're using Ubuntu, you may have noticed this message filling up your logs. It looks like Ubuntu recently released a version of libmysqlclient21 which outputs this warning message if you try to set MYSQL_OPT_RECONNECT. DBD::mysql sets it to false and therein lies the problem: https://github.com/perl5-dbi/DBD-mysql/issues/354 At a glance, the only real short-term option seems to be to downgrade the MySQL client, but keeping my eyes open.
