Hello, Christopher, Koha setup requires access to env valuables and install certain perl modules. We used Linode (linode.com) and it has been running for almost a year. I think that I tested other hosting companies (bluehost, godaddy). At that time, they did not offer me the required privilege.
There is no need to run your own server.
