> YUGOSLAV FOREIGN MINISTRY STRONGLY CONDEMNED ARREST OF KRAJISNIK
>
> BELGRADE, April 3 (Tanjug) - The Yugoslav Foreign Ministry on
>Monday vehemently condemned the perfidious arrest of Momcilo Krajisnik, former
>Republika Srpska (R.S.) parliament speaker and member of Bosnia's three-man
>presidency, by Bosnia's Stabilisation Force (SFOR).
>
> A statement issued by the Ministry said that this shameless and
>scandalous act by NATO-led SFOR was a direct attack on peace accords on
>Bosnia-Herzegovina reached in Dayton and Paris in 1995.
>
> This is the latest and most dramatic form of activity by the
>forces of occupation made on the eve of Bosnia's elections and aimed at
>stifling democracy and intimidating and discriminating against the Serbs with
>a view to promoting the U.S. administration's and NATO's puppet regime,
>creating a unitary Bosnia-Herzegovina and eliminating the Republika Srpska as
>Bosnia's equal entity.
>
> This act of violence clearly indicates that NATO continues its
>policy of genocide against the Serbs in an organised manner.
>
> By downplaying the importance of the Dayton and Paris accords,
>initial results in restoring confidence, security and safety in
>Bosnia-Herzegovina are annulled. SFOR's action has once again shown that the
>force is an instrument openly used by NATO, which unequivocally indicates that
>the United Nations has been totally outmanoeuvred, the peacekeeping mission
>taken advantage of and political, legal and moral principles in international
>relations trodden on, with a view to making it possible for the alliance and
>the policy of force to usurp the role of supreme arbiter in the world.
>
> The arrest of Krajisnik shows that the so-called Hague tribunal
>operates only as an illegitimate political body whose task is to ensure the
>collective punishment of the Serbian people.
>
> Large-scale replacement of politicians and officials elected
>through the people's will shows that attempts are made to set up a
>protectorate in Bosnia-Herzegovina in a colonial manner, the statement said.
>
> MEDITERRANEAN - CONFERENCE
>
> CONFERENCE ON SECURITY AND COOPERATION IN THE MEDITERRANEAN CLOSED
>
> PARIS, April 4 (Tanjug) - The 3rd Interparliamentary Conference on
>Security and Cooperation in the Mediterranean closed in Marseilles on Monday
>after adopting a closing declaration.
>
> A delegation of the Yugoslav parliament took part in the work of
>the conference, which rallied about 200 participants from Mediterranean
>countries and those close to this region.
>
> The closing document, adopted at the end of the 4-day meeting,
>pertains to issues of regional stability, economic cooperation and
>partnership, as well as dialogue among civilizations and on human rights. The
>document also includes amendments proposed by the Yugoslav delegation which
>have been accepted by the working body. These articles stipulate that the
>conference entirely supports the implementation of United Nations Security
>Council Resolution 1244 as the only manner of resolving the problem of
>Serbia's Kosovo and Metohija province and that the conference maintains that
>any military act or measure taken against the sovereignty of any country
>presents an act of aggression.
>
> The conference also adopted a decision to set up a Parliamentary
>Assembly of the Mediterranean, modeled according to the parliamentary body of
>the Council of Europe.
>
> COUNCIL OF EUROPE - ASSEMBLY
>
> RUSSEL-JOHNSTON ASKED FOR LIFTING OF ANTI-YUGOSLAV SANCTIONS
>
> BRUSSELS, April 4 (Tanjug) - Council of Europe Parliamentary
>Assembly President David Russel-Johnston asked western countries in Strasbourg
>to lift the sanctions against Yugoslavia, electronic media in Brussels
>reported late on Monday.
>
> Nothing has been achieved with the sanctions and there are many
>arguments for their lifting or easing, Lord Russel-Johnston told a press
>conference.
>
> He underscored that the entire population of Yugoslavia are
>suffering because of the sanctions and that this is why the Parliamentary
>Assembly urges their lifting. The European Union should continue easing the
>sanctions, he said.
>
> NATO AGGRESSION - INTERNATIONAL REACTIONS
>
> JAPANESE ORGANIZATION ISHUI-KAI SENT PROTEST LETTER TO CLINTON
>
> TOKYO, April 4 (Tanjug) - The air strikes on Yugoslavia were an
>act of genocide and a crime which must not be forgiven you, said a message
>sent to U.S. President Bill Clinton by the Japanese patriotic organization
>Ishui-kai on the occasion of the anniversary of the onset of the NATO
>aggression on Yugoslavia. The message resolutely demands that the United
>States re-examine its policy toward Yugoslavia and stop interfering in its
>internal affairs. It also demands that those responsible for killing innocent
>children and citizens of Yugoslavia be taken to court and punished, and that
>Yugoslavia receive war reparations. The United States is further asked to lift
>the unjust economic sanctions against Yugoslavia and invest efforts to restore
>peace and stability in Yugoslavia.
>
> The message to Clinton was read at demonstrations staged by the
>organization at the anniversary of the aggression outside the U.S. Embassy in
>Tokyo. It said the 79-day aggression had killed more than 2,000 innocent
>people, that NATO planes destroyed hospitals and schools, bridges, roads, and
>other infrastructure objects.
>
> NATO AGGRESSION - VICTIM
>
> V.JOVANOVIC KILLED BY NATO CLUSTER BOMB
>
> NIS, April 4 (Tanjug) - Vladimir Jovanovic, 70, of the southern
>Serbian town of Nis was killed on Tuesday morning by a cluster bomb.
>
> Digging in his garden in the Duvaniste district, Jovanovic came
>upon a cluster bomb dropped in the area by NATO aircraft on May 12, 1999,
>within the alliance's 78-day air strikes on Yugoslavia.
>
> Ljubisa Jovanovic said his father Vladimir had also been wounded
>in this same district during the aggression last year.
>
> Local citizens fear many more cluster bombs still remain in this
>district.
>
> The use of cluster bombs is banned under international law.
