This Wednesday a so-called "summit" at the White House on the political status of Puerto Rico between President Clinton and the presidents of the three political parties in Puerto Rico will take place. Many see this meeting as an attempt by President Clinton to create a smokescreen distract attention from what he has authorized to take place in Vieques. Locally the Puerto Rican community as well as the communities in solidarity with the Vieques struggle must come together and reassess our local strategy.
