Russia and China have both condemned the latest raids by British and US warplanes in Iraq. A senior Russian defence ministry official said the US was "trying to replace the UN Security Council, which constitutes a dangerous tendency that will destabilise an already fragile international situtation." A Chinese representative at the UN said his country opposed "armed intervention by any UN member state under any circumstances against any other nation without the express consent of the Security Council".
