An information pack including a video documenting human > rights violations was handed to Chief executives of the local city council, > the BBC and Granada television companies in an attempt to highlight the > plight of political prisoners. > > The plight of political prisoners in Ireland was also highlighted, in > particular those held in Maghaberry prison outside of Belfast, who are being > subjected to beatings and whose lives are in danger daily. > > We call on all political, and human rights groups to exert pressure on the > Turkish and British Governments to allow United Nation Inspectors into the > jails to assess the prisoners' conditions. > > The March will be calling at the following cities, Congleton, Stafford, > Hanley, Wolverhampton, Birmingham, Coventry, Banbury, Oxford and London. > Please come join the march along its route to demand a halt to the inhuman > and degrading treatment immediately. > > _________________________________________________________________
