Who are responsible for the almost simultaneous terrorist attacks on World Trade Towers, the Pantagon and State Department in New York and Washington, the facts are bound to be known any soon. However, the facts that are evident prima facie are, not a few individulas, but a big and well organised group is behind these murderous acts and a great deal of planning and resources have gone in its accomplishment. Three symbols of power: economic, military and political have been targeted. The message sent is loud and clear and its wording thoughtfully selected. The perpetrators of the attack have expressed anger and dislike for all that stands for all types of power, especially in the US. Those responsible seem to have a serious grudge against the authorities. In addition to hunting down the guilty, their motives need also to be known and cause for the anguish identified and remedied. Cause and not the symptoms need to eliminated. There appear to be a well grounded concept that much is wrong with the system, not in the US alone but the world over. Inequity if not righted will give birth to another Phoolan Devi and another Malcolm X. The tragic happening should be used as an invitation for having a genuinely worked out equitable world order.
