Subject: [Peoples War] IRSP: New Terror Law is a Farce

New Terror Law is a Farce

A statement by the Irish Republican Socialist Party has labelled the
British Government's New Terror Laws "a farce".

An IRSP spokesperson today said:

"It is a farce to believe that the PTA or 'internment without trial' has
gone away, especially if you are Irish. Any Irish person can clarify that
such a policy by the British state hasn't gone away, in fact, it has been
used against many Irish people in this present climate of so-called 'peace'.

"This emergency legislation drafted by the British Labour Government for
an introduction of new terror laws is a total farce. Many members of our
class and minority communities are already of the opinion that any further
movement to introduce more stringent laws, whether it is directed against
the 'War on Terror' or other issues, would be yet another nail in the
coffin for people's liberty and equality.

"The IRSP believe that such new laws would undoubtedly lead to greater
arrests of any individual who is, at this moment in time, opposed to the
present imperialist policy of war by the forces of the 'New World Order'."
