Our people have now exploded national anger for the political
suppression that the Japanese reactionaries brought upon the General
Association of Korean Residents in Japan (Chongryon).
In the end of November, the Japanese authorities arrested a director of
a financial bureau of Chongryon central headquarters for the "crime of
embezzlement" and mobilized several hundred of police to forcibly
investigate the central headquarters, the Tokyo headquarters and the
West Tokyo headquarters of Chongryon.
The current suppression campaign is the premeditated political
suppression that the Japanese reactionaries try to destroy Chongryon
completely.
Early in November the Japanese reactionaries mobilized several hundred
of police to forcibly investigate 13 places including the head office of
Kanto Korean Bank and arrested the four managing staffs of the bank
including the former director general.
The compulsory searches to Chongryon the Japanese reactionaries enforced
recently shows the hostile maneuvers toward the Korean nation and the
Korean compatriots in Japan.
Japan, regarding north Korea as an "hostile country", Chongryon an
"hostile country organization" and the Korean residents in Japan an
"hostile country people", have continued a strict watch toward the
organizations and the members of Chongryon.
Recently, the Japanese reactionaries held a "national meeting", abusing
north Korea openly as a "terrorism support country" and a "country
violating human rights" and this time, is unfolding the overall
suppression of Chongryon.
Facts prove that the maneuvers of Japan following the U.S. anti-north
hostility policy reached "danger waters".
Japan is brutally suppressing on groundless charges the Korean
compatriots in Japan, direct victims of its crimes committed in the
past, and Chongryon, the legitimate organization protecting their
democratic national rights and interests, instead of redressing them. It
is an unpardonable crime of adding to its crimes already committed.
The current incident has been the first unprecedented political
suppression since the formation of Chongryon, and especially, has been
enforced at the same time when Japan, taking advantage of the U.S.
"revenge war against terrorism", has sent its "Self-defense Force"
overseas practically.
Japan must stop at once the anti-north Korea hostility policy and the
suppression of Chongryon, release immediately the unjustly arrested
compatriots, and apologize and compensate for the past crimes it
committed toward the Korean nation.
The NDFSK will join all the Korean people in the intensified
anti-Japanese struggle to put an end to the Japanese reactionaries'
hostile policy toward the Korean nation and their political suppression
of Chongryon and certainly force them to apologize and compensate for
their crime-woven past.
