AFP. 26 January 2002. Anarchists claim bombing of Jordanian diplomatic
car in Athens.

ATHENS -- Suspected anarchists have claimed responsibility for a bomb
attack earlier this week in Athens against a car owned by the Jordanian
embassy, the Greek newspaper Eleftherotypia reported Saturday.

An unidentified man told the paper that a group called "The Flames of
Revolt," unknown to Athens police, had carried out the attack early
Friday, but did not reveal a motive.

Police said they believe that the group is linked to anarchist elements
in Greece.

The blast, fueled by small petrol cans, completely destroyed the car,
which belonged to Nadif Omar, a secretary at the Jordanian embassy,
police said.

The explosion, which took place at 4:00 am (0200 GMT) Friday in the
northern Halandri district of Athens, also damaged a neighboring car
with Greek license plates.

The Halandri district is near the Psychico area, where several
embassies, including the Jordanian embassy, are located.
