Based on the fact it worked for Edward Karavakis on Fedora 7 and stopped
working on Fedora 8 (what is a signal of being a distribution-specific
problem), I'm seriously tempted to close this bug.
Edward, the information I requested from you twice is not, by any means, an
strace. An strace cannot provide the data I need to detect a possible problem.
I need the info Kopete generates when performing the various steps while
_probing_ the device, and this info is sent to the console output at execution
time. This info contains a comprehensive, step-by-step description of what
Kopete does to access the device. The strace is not enough.
I ask you again to provide that information. It may be a hard-to-find bug that
will be of great value to find out how to fix it, so I count on your
cooperation to help us to address this problem.
I'll wait for more info on this problem for two weeks, after that if I don't
get the info I'll close the bug as WORKSFORME, as I need the requested
information to debug it, and I'm unable to do so without it.
