I've noticed that the /root/.bash_history gets rest to a file size of
zero every once in a while under SuSE 9.1. Does anyone know what this
effect is about?

My initial reaction is to put something like this in cron:
"cat /root/.bash_history >> /home/[username]/root-bash_history

Is there a better way or is this a simple way to avoid this issue (it
happens it seems once every 2-4 weeks)?
