Alas.

I don't know. The reason I'm asking is because I would like to get a
job working with Linux, but I don't have any experience doing so in a
business environment. Likely Linux jobs, that I can think of, are
working to keep servers of some sort up and running. I may or may not
have to know something about whatever function the server is serving,
but I'd definitely have to know something about servers in general.
If you were hiring a Linux tech who had never worked as a Linux tech
before, what role would he or she likely fill? And what would he or
she have to know prior to being hired, for you to consider hiring that
person?

In a room full of Slashdot-reading nerds who'd all managed to fumble
through installing Red Hat on the computer at home, what skill could
one of them have that would make you put their resume in the "Hmm"
pile, instead of the "When we need a new coffee fetcher" pile?
