Copy it all to another computer is the simplest way. It is what I do. I have owned several tape drives, CD-RW, DVD-RW and played with dump, tar, rsync, taper, home grown scripts, and I have finally decided that the best way to reliably back up data is just to tar/gz it off to another hard drive on another computer. Borrow some space on a friends computer if necessary. Your friend probably needs to backup stuff to yours also anyway. Anything else is too expensive or too much trouble. I found the attached script on the net and it seems to work quite well. I added the gpg encryption (since I am backing up to a site trusted to keep my data safe but not entirely trusted not to actually read it) and the ssh pipe to the remote machine. - -- Tracy R Reed http://ultraviolet.org -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.2.6 (GNU/Linux) Comment: Using GnuPG with Thunderbird - http://enigmail.mozdev.org iD8DBQFCgWWe9PIYKZYVAq0RAg3wAJ9bo0d8XzyKPjrh06TwtHWRSLbYWwCfSsf5 /bNAqf0JPApZ5RDcmcpdzwM= =OL5r -----END PGP SIGNATURE-----
