I give "best GUI email program" to Eudora. Oh, how I wish Eudora were available for Linux. (and that they ported it well. no Acrobat Reader 5 style hack jobs.) I haven't tried Thunderbird though. I've been using Evolution, but I find myself avoiding it mostly, and falling back to my webmail interface. Is it just me, or is Evolution a sticky pile of good-for-nothing? Especially given its aims. > Extensions. I'm continually amazed, though I shouldn't be, at how useful extensions of various sorts can be. If you're using AdBlock, I recommend importing this set of pre-made rules: http://www.geocities.com/pierceive/adblock/2005-05-12a.txt For a general cornucopia of Firefox and Thunderbird tips and tricks, see: http://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic-t-302479.html . It's maybe actually not a cornucopia, but bountiful nonetheless. The userContent.css and userChrome.css tutorials may be of some help to someone. One of my favorite Firefox hacks is Portable Firefox. Not only do I get Firefox wherever I go (that has an accessible USB port), but I get my own bookmarks and other bits of the Firefox environment. It's like taking home with me. There's a Portable Thunderbird, too, but I imagine you'd have to be using IMAP for that to be useful. If XUL apps were more readily available, it'd be nice to be able to install them onto my own server, and have "Portable Desktop" on a USB stick, and be able to call up whatever I want, wherever I am. -todd -- [email protected] http://www.kernel-panic.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/kplug-list
