I think Apple might migrate some of the MAC's to Intel, but I seriously doubt
they will shift their whole line to X86. IBM's high end Power and PowerPC have

should stick to PPC to preserve their brand equity.....

supposedly. I still won't believe it till I see it.
If you RTFA you'll see it never says that Apple will announce that they
are switching to x86. Only to Intel-made uP's.:
"Apple Computer plans to announce Monday that it's scrapping its
partnership with IBM and switching its computers to Intel's
microprocessors, CNET News.com has learned."
Remember, PPC is a joint (and open-spec'ed) Apple-IBM design. There's
nothing stopping Intel from doing PPC themselves. Apparently, IBM (like
Motorola before them) can't quite keep up with Apple's demand. Intel can.
Neither does the article say on what platform Apple will use the Intel
uP's. Could be anything from the Mini on up. Maybe even a new Newton?
Guess we'll have to wait till Monday.
