I think the 2nd Thursday will be December 8. Is my calendar broke? I thought I got "volunteered" to talk about several silly things you can do with Python. I'm also planning on doing a warm-up presentation at the LPSG the week before.
The silly things are: 1. Process output from proprietary applications to produce customized reports. 2. Automate system admin tasks. 3. Use pygame and pgu to build a kitchen timer. 4. Use Tkinter to make a specialized drawing application. 5. Build a web application with zope, plone and zwiki. I won't argue why Python is the best, or even a good choice for these tasks. No comparisons to, or discussions of, other programming languages will be allowed. (If you want to do that, schedule your own meeting.) These are all projects in which I have had some involvement.
