I'm getting some funky mouse action. Or rather a lack of it. I've
had this problem where every once in a while, if I "lock" the computer
using KDE's built-in locking feature, when I unlock it the mouse
cursor is missing. I shake the mouse around and there's no darting
arrow to accompany my motion. I can still use the keyboard. I can
alt-tab and ctrl-w and so on and so on, but I can't mouse. If I move
the mouse around and click the buttons nothing happens, so it's not
just that it isn't visible; it isn't there.

How do I troubleshoot this? And has anybody had this experience or
heard of it? Obviously, the first thing is to pin down exactly when
it's happening. It happens *just* often enough that this will be
possible. For example, I'm not sure if it's only when coming out of
"lock" or if xscreensaver kicking in will cause it, too. Also, I
can't remember if it happens in Gnome or not. I tried ctrl-alt-f1,
and then alt-f7, which fixes a similar problem with video being all
fubar'd coming out of screensaver/locking, but that doesn't fix the
mouse problem. What I've been doing is logging out of the GUI and
then back in, which fixes it. But just now I left it and when I came
back the mouse was suddenly there, so it's not irreversible. I wonder
if the screensaver kicking in (slash exiting) caused it to fix.

I'm not familiar with the mousing system in X or KDE/Gnome, so I
couldn't begin to make educated guesses.
