Jim, Just a note to the organizers of last night's rPath presentation to thank you all. I was very tired and would have skipped the meeting if I hadn't had SDCS business (a preannouncement of the importance of KPLUGGERs to attend the annual SDCS meeting).
But I stayed, first out of courtesy and then out of fascination. I'm not big on vendors' presentations, but these guys were great ... and they had the goods. You know because it's in my sig that I'm an SCM guy. I felt like the rPath presentation was showing me the future of SCM. These guys don't just archive code, patches, comments, version ... oh no no no ... they do all that AND dependencies AND installation methods and scripts AND different forms of functional images. And they have the tools to automate the builds from the data! Too cool. Please thank the rPath presenters for me. In 10 years time we'll all be using their system. Maybe 5 ... They have shown us the Linux genome ... On Thu, Apr 13, 2006 at 05:39:10PM -0700, James G.
