Stewart - I have a feeling you are just standing on a soapbox, which
you are welcome to continue to do.  However, I wanted to drop my 2
cents in and mention that I actually try pretty hard to get a diverse
group of sponsors.  Some open source (Groudwork Open Source and LAMP
Host), some commercial (MS and Adobe), some local, some not, etc.
Last year the Groundwork Open Source guys were at a table right next
to the MS table, which made for some interesting chatter.

This is definitely not a "corporate" event and the sponsor presence is
very low key.  They help pay for the event and in exchange get some
publicity and goodwill from the community.  The event is actually run
by me, and the SDCFUG, not by the sponsors.

At any rate, I don't really expect to change your mind, but I did want
to drop in and say my two bits.
