I am fully aware of the dangers of diagnosing to any tech (or physician, for that matter). So I will tell them (nicely) what I've done and what I concluded. I hope and expect that they'll examine other possibilities. But they need to know my spending limit and I want them to know that I'll be a skeptic if they try to pump the bill on fan price or HD. Not because they are unethical (if I knew that, I wouldn't go there), but because there are unethical people out there.
