That's okay as long as you have an unpluggable microphone and webcam.

Those of us with modern laptops do not.

Practically *everyone* has a microphone in their laptop for the past 4-5
years.  Webcams are now pretty ubiquitous, but probably only for laptops
1-2 years old.

Back in the days of NeXT computers, after some 3-letter agencies
bought a bunch of them, the standard solution was to put a dummy plug
into the connector, thus disabling the built-in microphone.

I suppose that a small piece of black electrical tape would do well
for disabling the webcam.
