And cracking most encryption isn't hard... if you have the resources.
Brute force does the job nicely, and it's an embarassingly parallel
problem.  Do you really think they /don't/ have a number of clusters
geared towards cracking encryption?

With computing power nominally increasing at an exponetial rate, it's not a
matter of "can they crack it"... it's a matter of when, and how much it
will cost them to do so.

With all this it suprises me that people seem to be acting like each parallel decryption device is a full speed pc sized computer


I dont have google handy right now, but a few minutes of searching will show there are small low poered fiarly fast devices available that do ONLY decryption....

if it can be bought on the private sector do you(no one in particular) not think the FBI, or NSA..... would have a collection of these??


anyone that spends time reading will see that the FBI can decrypt some things, and in the past has had no real issue asking "an outside agency" to do the work
