Any reason VirtualBox <http://www.virtualbox.org> won't work for you?
Um, VirtualBox is qemu, is it not?
No. VirtualBox is a cross-platform (Linux, Mac, M$ Windows)
virtualization solution similar to VMware. It used to be a commercial
product from Innotek that has been released under the GPL. They still
have a commercial version that adds a couple of extras like USB
emulation. See the web site for more details.
Well, qemu is cross-platform, too.
Well, it seems like qemu is used somehow for compilation. It's not
clear what the relationship is.
However, the free version doesn't do USB devices. That's pretty much a
non-starter.
It's free for personal use. Unless this is for your work, then you can
get a license, which you would need for any of the other solutions also.
