Has anyone noticed that precious few people on this thread have come
close
to answering the original question, which was "please recommend
electronics components stores in San Diego"? Of course, implicit in that
was that the stores not have closed in the last decade, etc etc etc ....
And FWIW, the question is still open.
<mutter> google and yp.yahoo.com were a bust, too ... maybe the _paper_
yellow pages ...
Um, take a look at your original question before getting annoyed.
Your original question *did* get answered.
The fact that wasn't the question you *wanted* answered is not our
fault. (Although, it's still not clear what you actually wanted
answered ...)
Someone did mention Fry's. San Marcos store is better than the San
Diego store for discretes. Unless you get a *really* good store
locally, Fry's is going to be hard to beat for retail selection. Price,
on the other hand, ... :(
We also pointed out that an LED is not going to work because you don't
have enough voltage for the bandgap.
Since Fry's actually has a couple rows of discretes, it is more likely
that you will find a low-voltage lamp that might actually work.
Quite frankly, you got a couple *good* answers. That's better than
average for a mailing list thread. ;) It's one of the reasons for
being on KPLUG.
You might want to be a little slower on the trigger to complain about
free help that's actually accurate *and* related to the original
question. This feels like the third or fourth time you've complained
about the responses in a thread you initiated. On some of the higher
traffic lists I monitor, people get put in the "ungrateful PITA"
killfile for that.

See reply to Todd. Or go back to discussing the physics of shotsky
bridges. La Quey -- spiny misanthropic La Quey -- gave me an answer in two
sentences.
It's like I always tell my kids: "What would you rather do, be right, or
be happy?"
Sometimes the former, sometimes the latter.
Sometimes both, sometimes neither.
Depending on my mood, or what I want my mood to be. :-)
