And, last I checked, they were on sale for around $220 (instant rebate +
mail-in rebate) at Fry's w/ a 500GB hard drive.  That's pretty hard to beat.

It's not even that hard to do the change if you have Knoppix and an
external SATA case.

As a side note, the big filesystems are all XFS.  The reason:

XFS puts less load on the CPU than ext.
