"VARs and system builders said the Vista issues are so significant that they
are simply ripping Vista off most systems."

I have been hearing this from people in the local Windows community. Even the
die hard Microsoft BP's are dissatisfied. MS spent $7 billion on Vista it
requires 50gb. So it is bloated by any definition. Even MS has alluded to the
fact that future Windows versions will probably be yearly or quarterly
upgrades. So it's questionable if MS will get a adequate ROI...??

So given the strong level of dissatisfaction it could prove to be a catalyst
for growth in the Linux desktop market. You can be certain that if Vista sales
are slow MS will accelerate the end of life for XP.

Today Linux is becoming very close to being usable for all consumers. If the
leaders in the Linux community would get together and make a push then we could
see some real gains in the Linux desktop market.
