Linus on the Google vid claims merging in Git is lightning fast and uber-easy. To prove this he claims he and others are doing large numbers of massive merges for the kernel *every day*. He also claims because branching and merges are so easy it is not uncommon to have Git powered developers with many sub-trunks and branches on their hard drive (e.g. testing, experiemental, stable, etc.) .....something you'd rarely see in CVS/SVN-land. I wish I had the details to scrutinize Linus's claims but if what he is saying is true that is good news. I'm not sure why merging would necessarily be easier in a distributed SCM. cs -- [email protected] http://www.kernel-panic.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/kplug-list
