I have a new laptop and of course, I only use a small percentage of
available CPU cycles.

Since laptops are reasonably power efficient, I reckon I can afford to
donate cycles to some good cause or causes.

I remembered PK mentioning boinc, so I went (http://boinc.berkeley.edu/)
and learned that this is the (most?) commonly used protocol/interface
for public distributed computing.

The boinc stuff seems to work with dozens of projects needing CPU
cycles. They also have a manager (BAM) that seems useful for keeping
track of participation, etc.

So.. does anyone here have suggestions and/or favorites I might consider
as beneficiary of my excess cycles?

I would also like to hear if anyone has criticism of boinc or maybe
their project list. And maybe there are other options I should consider?

Regards,
..jim

PS. Has anyone had any experience with /teams/. Should we consider a
kplug team?

..j
